An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, repeating until August 13, 2020

3 Weekly 4-Day Sessions 
July 27 thru August 13 
 
Kids ages 6-11 — Mon-Thu, 9am to 1pm
Teens ages 12 & up — Mon-Thu, 1:30 to 5:30pm
 
Limited camp session enrollment due to safety protocols. 
 
Weekly rates per student: 
Member parent $110 
Non-member parent $130

Summer Art Camp Sessions
Week 1: Mon-Thu, July 27-30 
Kids ages 6-11 — 9am to 1pm 
Creative Hand-Building using Clay for Young Artists
Instructor: Kimberly Sander

Session will be held at Jane’s Art Center, located at 199 Downing Street at the corner of Magnolia, a half block south of The Hub.
Get ready to unleash your imagination and fall in love with the medium of clay! Students will develop fundamental ceramic skills while learning the basics of hand-building with clay. They will create and glaze 2-3 unique sculptural projects in clay inspired by such famous artists as: Monet, Picasso, Thiebaud, Rodrigue and Van Gogh. Students will explore pinch, coil and slab methods of construction, while creating and interpreting these famous artists. Works will be ready for pick up on August 15 at Jane’s Art Center during regular gallery hours, Tuesday-Saturday between 10am and 5pm. Works that are not picked up by October 10 will be donated or discarded.

Kimberly Sander is an artist who enjoys all mediums of art. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (focus in ceramics) and teaching certification from Stetson University. She is a National Board Certified Teacher. Kimberly has taught elementary art for the last 30 years in Volusia County.

Week 2: Mon-Thu, August 3-6
Kids ages 6-11 — 9am to 1pm
The Art of Puppetry 
Instructor: Michael Philips
During this session, students will learn how to create original puppets and how to perform with their puppet masterpieces. Students will write a short puppet show and perform the puppet show for their families and friends on the last day of the session. After the performance, students will take their puppets home.
Mike Philips has been a teacher in Volusia County Schools for several years. He teaches Drama at New Smyrna Beach Middle School, where he established and directs a very successful Thespian Club. His passion is the performing arts.

Introduction to the Art of Acting 
instructor: Michael Philips

During this fun-filled session, students will be exposed to the wonderful world of theater. Students will begin each day participating in acting warm-ups. They will work together to gain a higher appreciation for the arts
through fun and engaging activities, including organic theater, interpretative pantomime set to music, improvisation games, and duet and ensemble acting. On the final day of the session, students will present short performances demonstrating their acting skills acquired throughout the session.

Kids ages 6-11 — 9am to 1pm
Re-Creating Masterpieces of Four Famous Artists
Instructor: Steve Hardock

Learn about a famous artist’s life and history each session day, then create a piece of art inspired by the artist’s work. Students will be drawing, coloring, building, painting, sculpting, and completing four beautiful pieces with the knowledge and understanding of four of the most famous artists of all time.
Steve Hardock is an elementary art teacher and award-winning artist from New Smyrna Beach. Steve was a freelance artist for the Hamilton Collection and Bradford Exchange for many years. He works in all art mediums and loves to create fun, memorable pieces of work for all to enjoy. Recently Steve painted a public art mural on The Hub’s Magnolia Street wall, depicting New Smyrna Beach’s landmarks and natural treasures.
Teens ages 12 & up — 1:30 to 5:30pm 
Loosey Goosey Watercolors
Instructor: Sheri Zanosky
Working with Hub Artist Sheri Zanosky, students will gain valuable knowledge, tips, and techniques for drawing and painting. Students will paint sea life, woodland creatures, pets, and jungle scenes.
In addition to being a Hub artist, instructor and seasoned summer camp instructor, Sheri Zanosky is an award-winning professional watercolor and chalk art artist.
The Hub camp instructors, staff, artists and volunteers are all working hard to keep a welcoming, but safe, environment for all. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
We are adhering to the following guidelines:
– Session enrollment will be limited to 8 students per session.
– Students are required to bring their own lunch, snack and drink.
– Parents must sign a form daily that indicates their child is not sick.
– Masks are recommended, but not required.
– We will clean areas and disinfect surfaces periodically throughout the day.
– Social distancing will be implemented.
– Hand sanitizer use and hand washing will be practiced throughout camp sessions.
We are following all local and state executive orders for your safety and that of our colleagues and all Hub guests.
