Description: You won’t want to miss this delightful evening of poetry and music! Hosts for the evening will be Dan Pels (an unpredictable off-the-wall, surreal poet) and Mary Jane Barenbaum (the “Sweetheart Poet” of New Smyrna Beach). There will be 2 guest poets. Sonja Jean Craig, a poet emerging from the Bob Calabrese’s New Smyrna Beach Poets’ Corner, will present poetry that is both creative and imaginative. Jesse Sam Owens is a new, skillful and deep-thinking poet. His words will immediately command your attention and appreciation for the wonders poetry can achieve. In addition, there will be a performance by the talented song stylist, Lorale Mullins, a jazz extraordinaire singer.
Mary Jane Barenbaum has been writing poetry for about fifteen years. Her book, Seasons of My Life, is representative of this romantic/realist poet. She is a member of the Poet’s Corner at the New Smyrna Library. Mary Jane created a Writer’s Reading Group at The Hub on Canal that brought in many wonderful writers to read their work for the enjoyment of all. Mary Jane now co-hosts the Poetry Night at The Hub on Canal with the Dan Pels, a surrealist poet.
Sonja Jean Craig has been writing poetry for five years. She is known as The Astro Poet and is a member of the Poets Corner that meets at the New Smyrna Library. An Astro poet writes personal poems based on an individual’s astrological chart.
