They bring a contemporary freshness to classics by Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaria, Bob Marley and Lord Kitchener among others.
LAWRENCE APP—jazz guitar and vocals
Originally from the DC Metro area, Lawrence grew up in a musical home. His father was a jazz musician and well-known DJ and introduced him to many noteworthy local and national musicians in the 60s and 70s. Although Lawrence has performed many musical styles, he returned to his first love and earned a degree in jazz performance at UNF in 1993, studying with Jack Petersen, Bunky Green, and John Abercrombie amongst others. Since then he has expanded his repertoire to include not only jazz and blues standards, but also latin/world jazz, R&B, and contemporary jazz. He plays both electric and acoustic guitars and sings.
