Dimensional Forming with Metal with Jody Ochs
March 25, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Dates: 2-day Workshop: Saturday and Sunday, March 25 and 26, 10am-5pm
This two-day workshop is for students who are comfortable using a jeweler’s torch and hammering metal. You will learn various techniques, including shell forming, spiculum forming, and may incorporate some fold forming. While you may leave the workshop with a finished or almost completed piece/s, the goal is to learn metal-forming techniques using copper and brass. The copper and brass projects will be included in the workshop fee.
Each student will receive two 6 x 12-inch pieces each of copper and red brass (also known as jeweler’s brass) – four pieces altogether. If you would like to work in silver, you should bring your own 24 gauge silver sheet. Tools will be available to share or bring your own hand tools, such as third arms, pliers, cutters, non-marring pliers, metal scissors, files, a delrin hammer or other forming hammers, and texturing hammers if you want to play.
Fee: $350 for Members; $375 for non-members. Contact Jody if you have any questions and to discuss your particular project at sculpturegrl@gmail.com. Limited enrollment of 6.
