Broadway At The Hub: Phantom of the Opera with Paul Marino
August 27, 5:15 pm - 8:30 pm
Based on the 1910 Gaston Leroux novel of the same name, The Phantom of the Opera debuted at London’s West End Theatre on September 27, 1986. This Andrew Lloyd Webber production began its Broadway run in 1988. These productions gathered rave reviews, many awards over time and became the highest grossing entertainment event of all time (until being surpassed by The Lion King in 2014). Phantom tells the story of a deformed musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opera House. He’s in love with chorus girl Christine and plots to have her replace the opera’s reigning diva. Christine struggles between love for a re-discovered beau and the strange pull of the mysterious and dangerous phantom.
Broadway at The Hub presents a filmed version of a live performance from October 2011 at the Queen’s Theatre, Royal Albert Hall in London. This is a lush performance driven by a 200+ piece orchestra. Discover the Music of the Night for the first time – or all over again. Paul Marino will introduce the performance and lead a discussion of what we watched.
