To say that this film has achieved cult status is an understatement. Directed by the notorious Coen Brothers, The Big Lebowski features not only standout performances by Jeff Bridges and John Goodman, but this film even made its mark on 90s pop culture with its iconic “The Dude” moniker. According to bartenders, the film also led to increased sales of White Russians. What is the plot? Hard to exactly pinpoint but it’s a joyous romp involving a stoner, a break-in, a kidnapping, and a neon-lit bowling alley. The film is officially categorized as a Comedy/Crime but it is definitely more comedy than crime. Instructor Paul Marino will introduce the film, raise questions to ponder and host a post-viewing discussion.
