In the year 2274 life is idyllic, or so it seems. Recalling the 1969 Zager and Evans song In the Year 2525, the need for humans to work has been supplanted by computers and machines. Living under a dome, humans are left to only pursue the pleasures of life. There’s only one problem, life must be terminated at age 30. Not all accept their fate and those who won’t are called “runners.” Pursuers of the runners are called Sandmen. Michael York is such a Sandman. He’s sent to infiltrate the runners and break their network. Predictably, an encounter with woman among the runners changes everything. Nominated for 2 Oscars, Logan’s Run is a sci-film that’s filled with social commentary. Instructor Paul Marino will introduce the film, raise questions to ponder and host a post-viewing discussion.
