Whether considered a homage to or spoof of the great master Alfred Hitchcock, High Anxiety will take you on a ride. Directed by the legendary Mel Brooks, whose prior films included Blazing Saddles (1974) and Young Frankenstein (1974), High Anxiety stars Mel Brooks in his first speaking film role. Here he plays a neurotic psychiatrist framed for murder after having been hired at a questionable mental institution. In an effort to exonerate himself, Brooks deploys comic genius to confront his own demons The cast includes comedy greats Madeline Kahn and Cloris Leachman, both of whom also starred in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Instructor Paul Marino will introduce the film, raise questions to ponder and host a post-viewing discussion.
