Art in the Form of Film: Dark Victory (1939) with Paul Marino
March 11, 5:45 pm - 9:00 pm
Date: Saturday, March 11, 5:45-9pm
Described as a tragic but enjoyable melodrama, Dark Victory stars Bette Davis, who once described the film as her all-time favorite. Davis plays a confident and provocative socialite who suffers encroaching blindness after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. How she handles her life unraveling is the movie’s major theme. Among many other 1930s film stars, the cast includes Ronald Reagan and Humphrey Bogart. Instructor Paul Marino will introduce the film, raise questions to ponder and host a post-viewing discussion. Sponsor: Chases on the Beach, Where it’s Always Sunny.
Fee: $10 includes glass of wine or bottle of water.
