Martha McLeod is a third generation Floridian, born in Avon Park, FL and raised in Ft. Pierce, FL. She is married to Dr. William McLeod; has three daughters and two granddaughters. She and her husband have lived in New Smyrna Beach since 1979.

Martha graduated from the University of Florida in 1972 with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She worked at The Model Secondary School for the Deaf and studied interpreting for the Deaf at Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C. 1973-1975. For several years she worked as a nationally certified interpreter for the deaf in Hawaii during her husband’s training. After moving to New Smyrna Beach she continued interpreting part time while raising her children. She became interested in painting and sculpture and finally, jewelry design and fabrication soon after moving here.

Martha has studied portraiture, sculpture and jewelry with many talented and renowned artist and continues to study while working and selling her jewelry at the Hub On Canal in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She has been a studio artist at The Hub since its opening in 2012.
