Artist Statement
As an artist, I have worked in several mediums, but ever since I discovered watercolors, I have been hooked. I get excited watching water and colors flow together on the white paper. I enjoy teaching watercolors to beginner artists and shear the experience when they discover the same joy that I discovered with this medium. There can be so many wonderful surprises we encounter along the way, especially when we let the paint and water “do its own thing”. This medium is challenging but can be so rewarding.
My bio
I am originally from Norway and came to the US in my early twenties. In Norway I painted with oil in a decorative style called “Rosemaling” which basically means painting of roses. In the US, I worked first as a draftsman and then as a technical illustrator for General Electric and Lockheed Martin for 20+ years. I painted in oil for years, but after discovering watercolors about 9 years ago I never looked back. This is my medium. After retirement I from Lockheed Martin, I have been teaching weekly beginner/advanced watercolor classes at Artists Workshop Inc. New Smyrna Beach for the last 6 years.
I have attended workshops with the following artists: John Salminen, Janet Rogers, Steve Rogers, Pat Weaver, Judi Betts, Birgit O’Connor, Sue Archer, Carol Frye, Lynn Ferris, Carol Brady, Thomas Schaller and more.
