Fay Samimi is a ceramic artist working with low fire, stoneware, and porcelain clay to make whimsical, one-of-a-kind vessels and sculptures.  Born in Iran, Fays first passion was science.  While she was working toward her Masters degree in Material Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, Fay discovered her second passion: working with clay.  Later, as Fay and her family settled in Southern California, she took a job as an engineer but always made time for art. In 2007 Fay and her husband moved to Ormond Beach, FL.  Since then, she has devoted all of her time to her art.

Fay believes imagination is the channel by which the subconscious communicates with the conscious mind.  She uses her own imagination to freely develop concepts, which she then turns into objects.  Those objects are rich with symbolism and metaphor and are oftentimes rooted in ancient Persian art and folklore. Her sculptures can be interpreted in the same way that we interpret dreams: Human and animal forms interact and blend seamlessly, hinting that we are made from the same clay.  Her ultimate artistic goal is to invite viewers to create a dream world of their own and to interpret her art from their point of view.

Fay is a member of Beaux Arts of Volusia County and Art League of Daytona Beach.  She has exhibited her pieces both in California and Florida and and over the years has received various awards including Best in show and First Place.
