Unconventional Colorscapes elizamidgett@gmail.com instagram.com/elizamidgettcolors facebook.com/elizamidgettcolorsGrowing up amongst rolling sand dunes and in the crashing waves has made those images so familiar to me that I instinctively paint the beach and its surroundings, but in my own way. Color is a part of who I am as well as a powerful tool to communicate artistically. Viewing the world in chunks of color, shadows, exaggerated shapes and patterns, I transform nature into my own joyful and surreal wonderland. I tend to “escape” into my paintings while I am working on them and imagine what it would be like to live inside each painting. I invite you to jump in!
I began drawing and designing at a very young age, and earned a B.F.A. in painting and drawing from James Madison University. If they had a degree in Color Theory I would have it! I started out with my art in outdoor art shows, worked as a graphic designer, and my very favorite job – stay at home mom for my 2 boys who are now both scientists. (albeit creative ones) I have spent the last 12 years as an Elementary Art teacher in central Florida, as well as and painting and creating murals in this area.
