Working Studios
There are 30 working studios at The Hub on Canal, 132 Canal Street, in downtown New Smyrna Beach. Studios range in size from 54 to 325 square feet. Criteria for studio space include the following:
Artistic discipline: The Hub on Canal is interested in creating a range of mediums throughout the building, including but not limited to ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, fiber arts, jewelry, furniture making, design, as well as non-visual arts disciplines such as writing, music, and dance.
Community interaction: The Hub on Canal wants to foster interactive exchanges and experiences for its visitors. This is accomplished through classes, workshops, and events, but it is also achieved through interactions between the artists and the public. Working in the studios on a regular basis is important and the percentage of time spent at The Hub on Canal will be a consideration in the selection process. Artists are encouraged to offer classes/workshops in the communal art classroom. In addition, studio artists are asked to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per month and to attend openings and events.
Wall Space
Wall space at The Hub on Canal is also available. The Hub on Canal’s lively walls are perfect places for artists to display their work, rotated every month.
