As an artist, native Floridian Elizabeth Barr absorbs the beauty of her surroundings and translates that beauty into marvelous images in oil on canvas. Inspired by her world travels, she portrays her own personal viewpoint of Monet’s gardens at Giverny France, and the exotic flavors of life along the Nile in Egypt. But it is her beloved home state of Florida that inspires Barr the most. She is adept at capturing a grassy dune brushed with sunlight, a grove of towering cedars draped in Spanish moss or a cluster of azaleas, dazzling under the pines.
Elizabeth Barr attended Rollins College in Orlando, Florida, as well as the University of Georgia. Her career outside the art world included a stint in the foreign service with the US State Department in Cairo, Egypt. Through the years she studied with local and nationally known artists as she perfected her own unique style.
